Grazing sea urchis create reef cacophony

From: New Scientist, In brief, No 2665 (19 July 2008).

Short report on a study which has recorded the sand of sea urchins grazing on rocky reefs. It is suggested that the noise created by sea urchins may help some larvae of fish anc crabs to find their way to reefs. The online version (link above) contains links to recordings of the sea urchins at work.
